To Write Love On Her Arms

It was too much of a coincidence, if you ask me, that the 2nd National 'To Write Love On Her Arm' day fell on the same day Ducky went to E.C. to see the specialist, and also on the same day of our anniversary.

But, music news first since I haven't written in a while. Cookie (formerly known as Bleeding Heart, but that was too long, and I liked Lemon's name better) is going to a Hot Hot Heat concert tomorrow, front row seats, and today he sat next to the lead singer of the band when he picked him up from the airport. Very cool, if you ask me, so props to Cookie.

A.P. English is everything and more that I wanted it to be. The journals were rough at first, but after a while I started to get into it more and now I'm really enjoying it. BC Calculus is going OK, I have my first big test coming up, after a whole quarter of not having a test. Sounds odd, right? Right. Well, before I was doing this Calc 2 class through the mail, but it's changed now to where I can just do it through email. So hopefully things will speed up much quicker now.

I got accepted to the U of M-Twin Cities today! Super pumped, and I'll do some thinking before I finally accept but I'm pretty sure it's where I'm going. I need to get my School of Music application out STAT. This leads into the discussion about The Animal, or, The Skosh. Yeah, Skosh might be too close to his real name, but Skosh really pisses me off to the point where I don't give a shit. I mean, he is developing an enourmous control complex and becoming such an egomaniac I just want to punch him in the face. The guy thinks he is literally above everyone else. Fuck that, if anyone, ANYONE, would be taking real stats on what happens in quiz bowl matches you'd see me and Shrimp at the top of the scorer list. But I'm done bitching, today's a happy. I got accepted and I think Ducky is happy with what happened today.

Speaking of Ducky, things are beginning to smoothen out a bit. What makes everything hard is the contrast between her and my friends. I can handle the contrast between her and Cookie, but with everyone else its rough. I firmly believe, within time, her and Cookie will eventually make up. It probably won't be soon, but should me and her stay together I believe they will. Those two are too much alike to not, and grudges can't actually last that long...

But music! Ah, music. The breath of fresh air from the stale sounds of my everyday life. Let me tell you, I am in love with Bach right now. He is just, awesome. Everywhere. He even has his musical devices named after him. Plus, he was a total manwhore, had tons of kids. Jesus. But when I look at recently played, I get these songs....

  1. Warwick Avenue - Duffy
  2. Anyone - The Feeling
  3. Narcelopsy - Third Eye Blind
  4. I Believe In A Thing Called Love - The Darkness
  5. Mr. Brightside - The Killers
  6. American Boy - Estelle Feat. Kayne West
  7. So What - P!ink
Alright, Duffy is just a good British-based song with great vocals and decent lyrics. Just a nice easy going jam that slightly broke my heart. Anyone is just a decent song I get stuck in my head, same with the next two.

Going on to The Killers, I am really dissapointed with their new singles. I think they've lost their old sound and sort of decaying into, well, a bloody pile of crap. Same with The All-American Rejects. Did these guys forget their own existence? Did they grow lady-parts? Dare I be a typical young critic and ask if they sold themselves out to labels? I don't know, and I won't make sure typical claims. I just don't like their new shit.

Now, onto more Pop-ier things. American Boy by Estelle with Kayne West really caught me. I really like the recent stuff Kayne has been putting up, and Estelle brings a great vocalist style not usually heard. But, I like rap, but not a whole lot of it. So this song really just sort of embodies my feelings about R&B and Hip-Hop in general. Good sounds with just the right amount of rhythm and passion. And "So What" by P!nk. OMG!!!! represents my feelings toward this song. It just gets with me, plus I can ride the P!nk train. "I'm Yours" by Jason Mr.A-Z gets my own vocals out when I drive the Mom-Van. All good songs you should listen if, in the case you live under a rock, haven't heard yet.

Onto a rare visit into the country side of things one will find enjoyment in Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, especially in their new album "Cardinology". And look, I really have a aural distaste for country, and many of this bands songs I really enjoyed. 'Stop' is so good, and so is 'Memories of You'. Chicks will love this dude. Dudes will secretly love this dude. "Please Do Not Let Me Go" has that sort of whiny country sound in it once in a while, and some downloaded versions have this nasty bass sound to it that will make the sound sound like crap unless you turn on the 'Bass Reducer' setting on. I do think the sound is a Limewire mistake, so don't feel like you might be taking away from what the artist intended. Trust me, that "DUMDUMDUMDUMDUM" strumming is not meant to be that loud.
Some of the stuff is very country. You can pick and choose, naturally.

By the way, BUYER BEWARE of the Genuis software bundled in with updated iTunes. When I 'genuised' "Warwick Avenue" by Duffy, I was given such songs like 'MMMBop' by Hanson, 'Rock The Clash' by The Clash. Sometimes though, it can help you discover some great tracks buried in your Library. If you have a 6455 song library like me, there are many hidden tracks you may not have heard yet.

I don't want to sound like I'm braggin with throwing out 6455, but that's a lot of songs yo. Part of it is this Beach Boys discography given to me by Cookie that I NEVER LISTEN TO. I really don't even like the Beach Boys remotely, suprising because usually I like vocal stuff, and they sort of have an a capella feel sometimes, but their sound just disturbs me too much. It gives me the same feeling Hollister does. Not because they're remotely related (aside from the whole surfer dude thing), just that they both give me a sick feeling. Fuck Hollister.

"Don't You Want Me Baby" by The Human League just came up. Hilarious.

Have fun. Comment if you feel. I may not post again in a while.
